House Structure

At Dr. Iris J. Banister School 33, we are proud to serve students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade in a supportive and structured House system designed to foster community, leadership, and belonging. We are co-housed with Florence S. Brown PreKindergarten, creating a seamless early learning connection for our youngest students.

Our school community is organized into four Houses:

  • GREEN House – PreKindergarten

  • GOLD House – Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade

  • BLUE House – 3rd Grade and 4th Grade

  • GRAY House – 5th Grade and 6th Grade

This House structure allows us to provide developmentally appropriate support while fostering leadership, school pride, and a strong sense of belonging across grade levels.

Kindergarten Registration Information:
Students currently enrolled in PreKindergarten within the Rochester City School District must register for Kindergarten. Attendance in PreK at School 33 does not guarantee admission into Kindergarten at our school. Families have the opportunity to choose a school within their designated zone, which is determined by their home address in the City of Rochester.

6th grade students can choose a middle school to attend within their school zone. 8th grade students can choose a high school to attend for 9th grade. Students who do not participate in the school selection process will be placed in the high school closest to your home where space is available.
